Hip Hop's "Common" hosts Gala/Funderaiser for his Charity "Common Ground"

Rapper Common brought the party to his hometown over the weekend as hosted his 3rd Annual Common Ground Gala and Fundraiser held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago, IL.
The Grammy winning rapper, born Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., was on hand to recognize business and community leaders who have been a given back to educate and uplift Chicago’s inner-city youth and the city’s public school system: NBA Legend and mogul, Earvin “Magic” Johnson; Quintin and Diane Primo of the Primo Center for Women; Olympic Gold Medalist Gabrielle Douglas; and Everett and Timothy Rand, co-founders of the, Midway Airport Concessionaires and the Chicago Football Classic.
Recognized by CNN Heroes and BET’s Hip Hop Awards, Common Ground Foundation targets youth ages 13-15,through programs, partnerships, and volunteerism that “helps students realize their self-worth and become resilient, thriving members of the community.” It also supports Common’s Dreamers & Believers Summer Youth Camp and Mentoring Program, that specifically reaches public school students in Chicago.
