1st Lady Michelle Obama visits 106 & Park for Education Initiative!

Education," was the main topic discussed on BET's 106 & Park, this past Tuesday.

First Lady Michelle Obama, stopped by the BET studios to 106 & Park, (a music countdown show), to discuss education and youth empowerment. The First Lady is making her tour to promote President Obama's "North Star" Goal. The goal is that by the year 2020, America will once again have the highest proportion of college graduates in the world.

In the audience were high school and college students who were able to engage in a question and answer with the First Lady. Interested viewers were encouraged to log on to, to learn more about how to pay for college, student loans and other materials.

Mrs. Obama expressed how, "going to college is a must." The First Lady also mentioned the advice she gives her daughters about their own education stating that,"they have to put 120 percent into their education."

The First Lady and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan made a trip, in the beginning of the week to visit sophomores at Bell Multicultural High School in Washington, DC. to encourage youth to take control of their education:

"My parents didn't have much money, and they never went to college themselves, but they had an unwavering belief in the power of education, and they always pushed me and my brother to do whatever it took to succeed in school," said Mrs. Obama.
