Move over Olivia Pope, it’s time for Shonda Rhimes to shine!
According to reports,
the mastermind behind shows like “Scandal,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and
“Private Practice has inked a publishing deal with Simon & Schuster
to write a memoir.
Described as “part memoir, part inspiration, part prescription,” the
book will focus on Shonda’s “personal decision to build a family well
before her Hollywood career began to skyrocket, and to navigate the
challenges of balancing parenthood and professional success.”
As a single mother to three daughters, the 43-year-old said she’s
made a lot of mistakes, but she hopes her story will help her kids in
the long run.
“Simon and Schuster is crazy for giving me a book deal as I am
clearly in no position to be handing out wisdom,” Shonda joked. “But I
have made a lot of mistakes as a single mother and as a working mother
and as a sleepless mother and as a dating mother. And I did all of it
while running a bunch of TV shows. So I’m going to write about that and
hope my kids don’t use it against me in therapy later.”
