For the second time this month, social media accounts owned by Microsoft have been targeted in a series of breaches.
According to reports from Cnet and The Next Web, the Twitter accounts representing Microsoft News and Xbox Support contained messages that appear to be from the Syrian Electronic Army.
"Don't
use Microsoft emails(hotmail, outlook),They are monitoring your accounts
and selling the data to the governments," read a message on the
Microsoft News account with the hashtag #SEA.
The messages have since been removed from both accounts.
The
breach comes more than a week after the social accounts and blog for
Skype, the Microsoft-owned Internet calling service, were compromised.
"We
recently became aware of a targeted cyber attack that led to access to
Skype's social media properties, but these credentials were quickly
reset," said Skype in a statement issued at the time of the breach.
