So I was just discussing this case along with the call for the resignation of D.A. of Florida Angela Corey and this happens. Seems this state just doesn't want to do right.

On July 28, a new trial will commence for Marissa Alexander.

In the new trial, The office of State Attorney Angela Corey will seek three consecutive 20 year sentences. Assistant State Attorney Richard Mantei, the lead prosecutor in the case, says that the office is simply following the sentencing laws of the state of Florida.

Alexander was sentenced to 20 years in prison after being convicted for three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Alexander fired what she claimed to be a warning shot at her husband in 2012, and was sentenced per Florida's mandatory minimums.

Last Fall, the conviction was thrown out because of inaccurate jury instructions given to jurors, and Alexander was bonded out of prison.
