Burger King supports Gay Pride with New Packaging

Fast food giant Burger King is showing its support for Gay Pride by repackaging its signature Whopper sandwich in rainbow colored wrappers that reads “We are all the same inside.”

The $4.29 gay-friendly ‘Proud Whopper’ sandwich is being offered at one San Francisco area Burger King franchise on Market Street through Thursday.

“It showcases who we are as a brand,” Fernando Machado, said senior vice president of global brand management at Burger King, in an interview with USA Today. “It shows how we, as a brand, believe in self-expression.”

Proceeds from the sales of the Proud Whopper will be donated to scholarships for LGBT high school seniors graduating in 2015.

Meanwhile, 2 Chase Bank employees are objecting to a controversial internal survey that questions their loyalty to the gay community.

After legal bloggers expressed their doubts about the survey, a second Chase employee came forward to confirm the validity of the Chase Bank survey that asked employees if they were “an ally of the LGBT community.”
